The mid-fuselage is the long, central section of the Orbiter. It is where <a href="text">payloads</a> are stored. It is also where the <a href="text">fuel cells</a>  that generate electric power for the Orbiter├òs electrical systems are located. The oxygen and nitrogen used for the crew compartment├òs atmosphere is also stored under the floor of the payload bay.
